It was late 2007 after a short trip to the northern part of Peru that Justin Walker, founder of Water Projects International, knew his life would never be the same. Justin had been invited by a family friend to explore and learn more about this South American country where people were struggling to survive due to a lack of access to water.

After spending about two weeks in Peru Justin knew that he must do something to give back to all those around the world who were missing one of life’s most basic needs. Previously Justin had worked with a humanitarian aid organization in the Middle East, but never had he seen such great effort spent every day just to collect a few gallons of water as in the country of Peru. It was from this knowledge that “WPI” was born, and Justin’s life forever changed...

Approximately 1.2 BILLION people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water, and approximately 2.2 BILLION do not have access to proper methods of sanitation. This is not a statistic to be taken lightly as this is around one third of the entire population of the world. So many people around the world suffer from a lack of clean water and this is just what Justin set out to fight when he began WPI.

WPI is now growing in so many ways and is carrying out various projects around the world to help people in need of clean water!
